Making His Mission
OUR Mission

Join our first-ever capital campaign!

Join Faith Mission's commitment to providing jobs and civic activism in our Cannery Center Capital Campaign. Become a part of providing a hand-up through this new job training and educational facility!

Funds are being actively raised for a four-phase renovation project that will create a job training program and a learning facility where individuals can acquire valuable soft and hard skills to propel them toward a future of independence and prosperity right here in the heart of downtown Brenham.

You may already know about the Cannery Kitchen in downtown Brenham, but many don't realize it was named after its neighbor, the Historic Brenham Cannery. Built between 1938 and 1939 by Alix Griffin with help from the Works Progress Administration, the cannery served the community in the late 1930s and early 1940s. It provided a space where locals could bring their fruits and vegetables to be canned, and some of the canned goods and proceeds were donated to welfare families. The building still stands today.

With your help, Faith Mission is excited to breathe new life into this historic site and the adjacent Maintenance Barn and Carriage House. The cannery will be remodeled to include a demonstration kitchen, reviving its original purpose of canning local foods. This will be part of Faith Mission's work program, where volunteers will mentor students, and proceeds from the canned goods will support other mission efforts. The Historic Carriage House will be transformed into classrooms for public workshops and specialized training. The Old Maintenance Barn will become a woodworking, appliance, and furniture repair center, also part of a work-mentoring program, with refurbished items sold to support Faith Mission programs.

Our Plan of Action:

Phase 1:

Upgrade and expand the shared parking lot in front of each of our buildings to appropriately accommodate our current and future guests.

Phase 2:

Renovate the historic Cannery building into a modern canning facility with designated
hospitality and training spaces.

Phase 3:

Update the maintenance barn into a wood-working, automotive, and appliance repair learning facility. This opperation will also be a revenue generator.

Phase 4:

Remodel and repair the Carriage House into a demonstration and instruction space that will be open to the public.

Our Vision:
